Thank you for visiting my website! I hope it will help us to stay in touch with each other.  As you look through its pages, you will find out about the issues facing Virginia, my accomplishments and background, and ways you can reach me.

It has been my privilege to represent the 32nd Senate District since 1992, which currently includes Reston, Tysons Corner, most of Oakton and parts of Arlington, Falls Church, McLean and Vienna.

I love this job!  I especially enjoy solving the problems constituents are having with state government.  Please do not hesitate to call for assistance. Also, please email me with your views on current issues. I read all the correspondence and respond to most of it personally.

As I assume more and more responsibilities as a senior member of the Senate, I find myself increasingly influencing the legislative process and outcomes.  I was the first woman to serve on the powerful Senate Finance Committee.  I also serve on the influential Courts of Justice, Education and Health, Privileges and Elections, and Rules committees.  In addition, I am the first and only female Senator to negotiate the final state budget each year.

Several times a year I hold public hearings throughout the district to better learn your opinions on issues facing our state.  Please watch this website for future events.

At least once a year, I write a newsletter which details the major accomplishments and failures of the legislative session.

Twenty years ago I promised the voters to cast votes based on the long-term best interest of Virginians and not on short-term political advantage.  As you look through this site, I hope you agree that I have kept that promise.
